On behalf of myself and the current ADMHA Executive I would like to celebrate the end of another hockey season by thanking all the coaches, parents, players, referees, and our fans for making this season a success. As we watched with excitement and cheered on our respective teams throughout the month of March. We turn the page on another seasons end and begin to place our focus towards the planning and preparation for next season.
The 2019/20 season brings about many changes as Hockey Canada and Hockey Alberta move forward in the development of the game of Hockey. From the grassroots to the elite levels of the sport there are many associations similar to ours across the country that provide the talent and product for overall success and the highest levels of achievement. Maintaining these standards requires us to challenge ourselves to meet new expectations while stewarding towards making the necessary adjustments to maintain a level of satisfaction our members, players, coaches, referees and parents expect. We must remain open minded while embracing these new challenges and changes.
****IMPORTANT****
The 2019 rendition of ADMHA AGM will be held onApril 18 at 6:30pm. This years AGM is a especially important as the current ADMHA Executive is putting forward changes to our Bylaws. Most of these Bylaw changes are focused around the proposed reduction for the number of Executive Board members from 19 to 9. The current Board of Directors has put a large amount of time and energy into this proposed structure change resulting in vote of confidence and support for these changes. The intent is to provide a more effective approach to the governance of the association where representation of the membership is better reflected.
The Board of Directors remains committed and acknowledges the importance of each current directors role in the continued success of our association. However it was decided through healthy discussions that some of these positions be a branch of the executive and are better applied as volunteer roles that will provide individuals the opportunity to perform important key tasks while fulfilling their volunteer hours through these respective positions. One of the primary goals for this change will be a more focused Executive Committee comprised of Directors having specific roles and responsibilities while supporting and mentoring new members of the association into roles of coordinators that would have otherwise been deemed executive board of directors.
As we attempt to move this association forward we understand that there will be challenges and plenty of questions regarding the proposed changes. Hence the reason that over the next few weeks we will provide our membership with greater details via specific emails and info sessions.
The Board of Directors will have a information session on April 18 at 5:30 PM in the Multiplex Buy Low Lounge for those seeking greater insight on these changes, respond to questions and have open dialog on the topic.
If you are unable to attend the information session but have questions pertaining to this topic, please send me an email (president@admha.com) providing details of your request(s), include a phone number. Myself or one of our current board members will get in touch with you via email or phone call. We want to provide all avenues for our membership to obtain this vital information. It will ensure full transparency and a means for each ADMHA member to be informed with the understanding of the proposed changes and the knowledge that the current Board of Directors strongly support this new direction.
